Presbyterian College senior guard Aminata Tal has been named to the Big South All-Academic Team, according to an announcement by the Big South Conference on March 3. Tal, who is from St. Louis, Senegal, has shown strong performance both academically and athletically during the current season.
Tal is Presbyterian’s second-leading scorer, averaging 8.6 points per game. She has reached double figures in scoring 12 times this season and recorded a career-high 20 points against Erskine on November 17. In a game against Gardner-Webb on January 21, she scored 18 points and made a career-high nine field goals to help her team secure a win.
In addition to her achievements on the court, Tal is majoring in sociology and maintains a grade point average of 3.39.
The Big South also announced other honors for the 2025-26 women’s basketball season. Macy Spencer of High Point was named Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. Georgia Simonsen from Radford received Freshman of the Year honors. The Co-Defensive Players of the Year are Aaliyah Collins (High Point) and Malea Brown (Longwood). Terri Williams (Gardner-Webb) and Mike McGuire (Radford) were recognized as Co-Coaches of the Year, while Emma Blair from USC Upstate was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Other members joining Tal on the All-Academic Team include Alba Garcia (Charleston Southern), Amina Gray (Gardner-Webb), Brecken Snotherly (High Point), Nalani Simmons (Longwood), Angelina Nice (Radford), Jaidyn Koerdt (UNC Asheville), Emma Blair (USC Upstate), and Jada Ryce (Winthrop).
“I am proud to be recognized for my work both in basketball and academics,” said Tal.
