The Presbyterian College baseball team defeated UNC Asheville 11-0 on March 14 at the PC Baseball Complex, earning its first conference win of the season. Christian Charalambous pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only four hits and striking out seven batters over nine innings.
The victory marked a strong offensive showing for the Blue Hose, who scored 11 runs on 12 hits. The team jumped ahead early with a four-run second inning, highlighted by RBI singles from Nick Smith, Brody Linker, Andrew Albertus, and James Green. In the fifth inning, Caden Mason and Emory Guilford added RBI singles before Smith hit a three-run home run to extend the lead to 9-0.
Presbyterian continued to add runs in the sixth with a two-RBI single from Mason. Charalambous maintained control throughout the game, securing his first career complete game shutout and setting personal bests in both innings pitched and strikeouts. This was also Presbyterian’s first complete game shutout since March 17, 2017.
Smith finished with two hits and four RBIs, including his first home run of the season. Five players recorded at least two hits each: Bo Moody, Mason, Guilford, Smith, and Albertus. The team’s run total tied its season high set earlier against North Florida.
Presbyterian will conclude its weekend series against UNC Asheville tomorrow afternoon.
