Presbyterian College junior Iveren Asom has received Honorable Mention Specialist of the Week honors from the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA). This recognition makes Asom the fourth different athlete from the Blue Hose program to earn a national weekly award in its history.
The Specialist of the Week accolade is given to athletes who make a notable impact in one event. Asom, who serves as both a base and tumbler, played a key role as a base for all three Pyramid Heats during Presbyterian’s home opening meet against Wingate last Sunday.
Asom, who is from Marriottsville, Maryland, took part in seven heats and also competed in the Team Event at the meet. She contributed to the Synchronized Pyramid team that achieved a season-high score of 9.80.
