Presbyterian College freshman Ladina Bruhin has been recognized as the Big South Freshman of the Week, according to an announcement made by the conference on Tuesday, January 20.
Bruhin achieved her first collegiate dual match victories for the Blue Hose over the past weekend. She competed in singles on the top court and finished with a 2-0 record. On Saturday, January 17, against Furman, Bruhin overcame Elle Warren after dropping the first set. She won the second set 6-4 and secured victory in a match tiebreaker with a score of 10-6, earning Presbyterian’s only point in that match.
The following day in Greenville, Bruhin faced Austin Peay’s Sophia Baranov and won another close singles contest with scores of 7-5, 7-5. This result leaves her undefeated at 2-0 to start the dual match season.
According to program records, this marks the 16th time a Presbyterian player has received Big South Freshman of the Week honors. Bruhin is now the 14th individual from Presbyterian to earn this distinction.
In addition to her recent singles success, Bruhin previously captured the second-ever Big South Fall Doubles Championship in October alongside partner McKenzie Davis.
