The Presbyterian College baseball team was defeated 6-3 by the College of Charleston on Tuesday evening in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The Blue Hose, now with a 2-11 record, fell behind early and could not recover despite efforts to close the gap.

Charleston took a 2-0 lead in the first inning after two hits. Presbyterian pitcher Tucker Meredith managed to leave the bases loaded to end the inning. The Cougars added another run in the fourth to make it 3-0.

Presbyterian responded in the fifth inning. James Green singled home Brody Linker for their first run, and Bo Moody followed with an RBI groundout, cutting Charleston’s lead to 3-2.

The game remained close until the seventh inning when Charleston scored again due to a throwing error following a trip to center field. In the eighth, Charleston extended its lead with a two-run home run.

Caden Mason hit an RBI double in the ninth inning for Presbyterian, scoring Matthew Rollison, but no further runs were scored as Charleston closed out the game.

Charleston’s Parker Sweeney earned his first win of the season while Tucker Meredith took his second loss for Presbyterian. Alex Lyon secured his second save for Charleston.

Aidan Taylor made his first career collegiate start as designated hitter for Presbyterian and went 1-for-4 at bat. Caden Mason recorded his second double of the year, while James Green and Bo Moody each contributed RBIs. Tucker Meredith made his second career start on the mound.

Out of Presbyterian’s bullpen, Brooks Chamberlin pitched three innings in relief and allowed only one run on one hit. Jeremiah Hampton and Tristan McGregor each pitched scoreless innings in relief.

Presbyterian will next face Appalachian State this weekend with games scheduled across three different cities. The Blue Hose are set to host Appalachian State on Friday at 4:00 p.m. in Clinton.
