The Presbyterian College baseball team is set to play against Charleston in a midweek game on Tuesday, March 3, at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Fans can watch the game on FloSports or follow live statistics on GoBlueHose.com.

Presbyterian enters the matchup with a record of 2-10 after losing three games to North Florida last weekend in Jacksonville. Amman Dewberry continued his strong start at the plate, going 6-for-16 last week with five RBIs and two doubles over four games. Dewberry recorded three hits on Saturday and two more on Friday against North Florida.

Andrew Albertus had notable performances over the weekend as well, finishing a combined 4-for-7 across Saturday and Sunday’s games. He scored four runs and drove in three RBIs during those contests.

On the mound, Mikey Marroquin Jr. pitched four innings across two appearances last week. In Sunday’s game against North Florida, he allowed just two hits and one run while striking out four batters—one shy of his career high. Christian Charalmabous leads Presbyterian’s pitching staff this season with 14 innings pitched and 12 strikeouts.

Head coach Elton Pollock commented on Dewberry’s impact: “Amman Dewberry has been one of the best hitters in the Big South to start the year, powering the PC offense in several categories.” Dewberry currently holds a .417 batting average (fifth in Big South), leads Presbyterian with 20 hits and three home runs, ranks second in total hits within the conference, leads in total bases with 34, and is second in RBIs with 18.

Coach Pollock added eight transfers to this year’s roster: James Green, Sammy Vander Hill, Caden Mason, Bauer Burkart, Emory Guilford, Ian Lindsay, Braiden Eagen, and Matthew Cannon. Additionally, nine freshmen joined the team this season: Domaine Vann, Bo Moody, Tucker Meredith (Tuesday’s probable starter), Jonathan Williams, Cole Morgan, Landon Nichols, Nathan Sofield, Jayden Adams, and Aidan Taylor.

Elton Pollock is entering his 22nd season as head coach for Presbyterian College baseball. Last year he led a young team through what was described as one of their toughest non-conference schedules yet—including a key victory over then-undefeated No. 23 Alabama.

Charleston comes into Tuesday’s contest with a record of 4-7 under head coach Chad Holbrook who is now in his ninth season leading their program. Since Presbyterian became an NCAA Division I program in 2008 Charleston has won both meetings between these teams—the most recent being a 7-3 victory for Charleston in Clinton during 2022. Over their first eleven games this year Charleston averages just over four runs per game while batting .244 as a team with three home runs.

Presbyterian’s schedule features 56 games overall including twenty-four at Elton Pollock Field at PC Baseball Complex; among these are series against UNC Asheville (March 13–15), Winthrop (April 10–12), Radford (April 24–26), and USC Upstate (May 8–10). The Blue Hose will also face SEC opponents Georgia (April 7), South Carolina (April 21), Tennessee (May 5) away from home along with an ACC matchup at Clemson on February 24.

After Tuesday’s game at Charleston Presbyterian will play Appalachian State over three days this coming weekend—with each game taking place in a different city—and will host Appalachian State on Friday afternoon at Clinton.
