The Presbyterian College men’s wrestling team faced a challenging day on Friday in Davidson, North Carolina, competing against the Brown Bears and Lock Haven Bald Eagles at a neutral site. The Blue Hose lost both matches, falling 40-10 to Brown and 53-0 to Lock Haven.
The event took place at the home of Southern Conference rival Davidson. Presbyterian managed three individual wins in their opening dual against Brown. Fernando Dominguez, Reed Douglass, and freshman Ryan Mann each secured victories for the team. For Mann, it was his first collegiate win after participating in only one previous tournament. He won his match with a score of 6-3. Douglass followed two bouts later with a major decision victory, finishing 16-7.
Despite these efforts, head coach Mark Cody’s squad was unable to secure more wins across the doubleheader, dropping 13 out of 16 non-forfeited matches.
“It will be a quick turnaround for the Blue Hose, who are back in action again on Sunday to continue the SoCon schedule and wrestle one final out-of-conference contest,” according to the team’s statement.
Presbyterian is scheduled to travel to Louisville within 48 hours for additional competition. They will face Sacred Heart at 10:00 AM before meeting Bellarmine at 2:00 PM as part of their ongoing season.
