Presbyterian wins three events but falls short against Wingate in home opener

Presbyterian College’s women’s acrobatics and tumbling team hosted their home opener against Wingate University, securing wins in the Acro, Pyramid, and Team events but ultimately losing to the Bulldogs by a score of 249.685-244.865.

During the Compulsory Event, Presbyterian scored 34.50 points, highlighted by a season-high 8.75 in the Acro Heat. The Blue Hose outperformed Wingate in the Acro Event with a score of 25.75 compared to Wingate’s 24.55, including a strong showing of 9.40 in the 5-Element Heat.

The Pyramid Event saw another win for Presbyterian, who edged out Wingate with a season-best total of 29.50 to 29.20, thanks to scores of 9.85 in both the Inversion and Open Heats.

In other events, Presbyterian recorded a Toss Event score of 25.60 with an Open Heat high mark of 8.90. The Tumbling Event yielded a team total of 47.325 points, featuring season-high performances: an 8.40 in the Duo Pass and a 7.40 in the Trio Pass.

Presbyterian closed out the meet by surpassing Wingate in the Team Event with an 82.19 to 80.71 advantage.

Individual achievements included Carson DeRoss, Sofia Cipriani, Avery Michowski, Taylor Gooding, Julia Petz, Victoria Smith, Anna Ruiz, Amaria Goudy-Smith, and Abby Gallicho scoring an 8.75 in the Compulsory Acro Heat; Veirs, Michowski, Gooding, Gallicho, DeRoss, Cipriani, Brooklyn Holik, Nev Cockerham, and Iveren Asom posting a 9.40 in the Acro Event’s 5-Element Heat; and Mia Cantu with Addie Catledge achieving an 8.40 in Tumbling Duo Pass.

The Blue Hose will next travel to Philadelphia for an away match against No.15 La Salle on Wednesday, March 11 at 6 p.m.
