The Presbyterian College Blue Hose women’s basketball team is set to play against USC Upstate in a Big South Conference matchup on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the G.B. Hodge Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live statistics will be available through GoBlueHose.com.

Presbyterian enters the contest with a record of 2-14 overall and 0-3 in conference play. In their last game on January 7, the Blue Hose were defeated by High Point with a score of 76-43 at home. Ja’Cia Cunningham led Presbyterian with 13 points, marking her seventh double-digit scoring performance this season and the 26th of her college career. Cunningham also went four-for-four from the free throw line. Ore Ogunwolere and Morgan Boyd contributed seven points each, and both recorded a blocked shot.

Despite the loss, Presbyterian outrebounded High Point by a margin of 33-30. Morgan Boyd led with five rebounds, while Ogunwolere and Krystal Haddock added four each.

Senior Ja’Cia Cunningham leads the team offensively, averaging 9.2 points per game and ranking among the top 20 scorers in the Big South Conference. She is second on the team in field goals made this season with 54 and has started four games. Senior Aminata Tal is the team’s second-leading scorer at 8.9 points per game and leads in field goals made with 57; she has started seven games.

Ore Ogunwolere leads Presbyterian in assists (37) and steals (23), placing her among the top 15 in both categories within the conference. She also averages a team-high 27.3 minutes per game. Daniella Velez follows closely behind with 32 assists and 22 steals while starting eleven games.

Freshman Allie Sykes leads Presbyterian from beyond the arc with 23 three-pointers—ranking her thirteenth in the conference—and has converted sixteen of eighteen free throw attempts this season.

Morgan Boyd stands out as the only player to start all sixteen games for Presbyterian this year, leading in rebounding (5.1 per game) and free throws made (31). She is shooting nearly forty percent from three-point range and shares the team lead in blocks (nine) with freshman Aretha Linger, who also contributes significantly to rebounding and holds a team-best field goal percentage at over forty-one percent.

Recent individual highlights include career-high performances from Krystal Haddock (18 points) and Morgan Boyd (16 points) during Presbyterian’s last road trip against Longwood on January 3.

USC Upstate comes into Wednesday’s matchup with a record of 5-13 overall and winless in conference play at 0-4 after losing five consecutive games—the latest being a narrow defeat to Gardner-Webb on January 10. Cassie Gallagher leads USC Upstate’s offense with an average of nearly fifteen points per game; she tops the conference for three-point shooting percentage (42.3%) and minutes played per game (31.8). The Spartans lead all Big South teams in rebounding (41.3 per game) as well as three-point shooting percentage (34.1%).

Bryanna Brady, who played for Presbyterian from 2021 to 2024—including during their first NCAA Tournament appearance—is now an assistant coach for USC Upstate.

In their history against each other dating back to 1978, Presbyterian has won twenty-eight out of fifty-four meetings versus USC Upstate—including both matchups last season.

This year’s roster features nine newcomers for Presbyterian: four transfers—Ore Ogunwolere, Ja’Cia Cunningham, Krystal Haddock, Laetitia Kamdoum—and five freshmen: Aretha Linger, Yolanda Floyd, Allie Sykes, Samantha Mullock, Amani Williams. Four players return from last year: seniors Shelby Fiddler and Aminata Tal along with sophomores Morgan Boyd and Daniella Velez.

Presbyterian will return home after Wednesday’s contest to face UNC Asheville on Saturday afternoon.
