The Presbyterian College women’s golf team is set to begin its 2026 spring season at the Oyster Shuck Match Play, an event hosted by The Citadel. The tournament will take place on February 9-10 at the Charleston Municipal Golf Course in Charleston, South Carolina.

Representing Presbyterian in the opening event are Sloane Spessard, Maddie Peake, Taylor Reaves, Addy Parker, and Emma Louise Hunt. Last year, the Blue Hose finished seventh in this tournament. During that event, Maddie Peake secured a match play victory over Samford for Presbyterian. The team has participated in this event previously in 2017 and 2022, with their best finish being fourth place in 2017.

The field for this year’s Oyster Shuck Match Play includes eight teams: The Citadel, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Presbyterian, Radford, Samford, Winthrop, and Youngstown State. The format consists of a bracket-style match play with all rounds counting toward advancement. Each head-to-head winner progresses to the next round. Presbyterian will open against Youngstown State on Monday.

Presbyterian concluded its fall season with a second-place finish at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate—their highest placement since another runner-up result at Bright’s Creek Intercollegiate on February 24-25, 2024. Maddie Peake was the top finisher for PC at Fripp Island with a third-place individual result—her career best—while Sloane Spessard achieved her first top-10 finish by tying for ninth place. Taylor Reaves and Emma Louise Hunt also recorded their highest finishes of the fall season.

This marks Columb Knight’s first full season as head coach of the women’s golf program at Presbyterian College. Knight graduated from PC in 2024 and had a successful playing career; he ranks seventh all-time among PC Division I players with a career stroke average of 74.93. His current squad features four returning players: Maddie Peake, Sloane Spessard, Taylor Reaves, and Emma Louise Hunt. Freshmen Gabi Carles and Addy Parker join them on the roster.

After competing in Charleston this week, the Blue Hose will continue their spring schedule at the Rivertowne Intercollegiate hosted by Charleston Southern on February 17-18 in Mount Pleasant.
