The Presbyterian College women’s tennis team lost 5-2 to Austin Peay on Sunday morning at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, South Carolina. This result leaves the Blue Hose with an 0-2 record to start their season.

Austin Peay secured the doubles point after wins on courts two and three. The pair of Ladina Bruhin and Roxy Valdes led 5-4 on the top doubles court, but their match was left unfinished as the Governors clinched the doubles point elsewhere.

In singles play, Austin Peay extended its lead with a straight-set victory on court three. Ladina Bruhin responded for Presbyterian by defeating Sophia Baranov in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5, earning her second consecutive singles win this season.

Austin Peay then recorded victories on courts four, five, and six to secure the overall win. Grace Katzman won her first set on court four but eventually lost in three sets.

Roxana Valdes contributed another point for Presbyterian by overcoming Luca Bohlen in three sets on court two. After dropping the opening set 6-1, Valdes rallied to win a tiebreaker in the second set and edged out Bohlen 7-5 in the third.

Presbyterian will return home next Saturday for a doubleheader against Converse at 10:00 a.m. and Lander at 2:00 p.m., both at Templeton Center Tennis Courts.
