The Presbyterian College men’s wrestling team concluded a demanding three-day stretch with two defeats on Sunday in Louisville, Kentucky. The Blue Hose faced Sacred Heart and Bellarmine, losing 37-8 to the Pioneers and 50-3 to the Knights.
Reed Douglass was a standout for Presbyterian, earning victories in both duals. Douglass secured a technical fall against Sacred Heart’s Hunter Perez and won by decision over Bellarmine’s Gavin Ricketts. These wins brought his Southern Conference record to 4-0.
Sophomore Joseph Morris also provided a highlight for Presbyterian, winning an extra-time match 8-3 against Sacred Heart’s Danny Delusant.
Presbyterian struggled with injuries throughout the weekend, resulting in four forfeited matches out of twenty. The team now holds an 0-10 season record and continues a six-match road trip through January.
Head coach Mark Cody’s squad will compete in four more duals before the Southern Conference Championships. Their next match is at The Citadel on Thursday, followed by Chattanooga four days later. The Blue Hose are scheduled to return home to Templeton Gym on February 1.
