The grant was awarded on June 5, 2019. The EDA describes the grant as follows:
"This EDA investment funds a feasibility study to determine the best infrastructure needed to serve the Greenwood East Rail Park in a designated Opportunity Zone in Greenwood, South Carolina. The project will support local industrial and commercial customers by establishing the tools needed to improve business opportunities in the area, which will help strengthen and diversify the regional economy"
