Greenwood County - SC issued the following announcement on July 16.
"Trash with Trey" and his volunteers made a trip to Rivers Fork Boat Ramp to pick up litter. 3 very full bags were filled up and hauled off to the dump. Thanks to the volunteers Trey Parker (Trash with Trey), Grant Blair (Preserving Lake Greenwood), Claire Hamanaka, Walt Willard (both from Keep Greenwood County Beautiful), and Amber Nappier (Greenwood County's Litter Prevention Coordinator). Trash with Trey picks up trash every Friday, next Friday will be along 67 in Callison. There will be another post with full details at a later date.
Can't wait that long to do a litter pick up? Tomorrow Trash Time with Tara will have her third installment of the City Ward clean up in Ward 3 along Cambridge Ave from 9am-11am. The meeting place will be First Presbyterian Church.
Remember, leaving your cigarette butts behind is still considered littering. They are also considered one of the most littered items. Lots of cigarette butts were found and at Rivers Fork today. Studies have found that cigarette butts can leach harmful chemicals into the lake and can harm fish and other wildlife. Even if just left in the parking lot, rain can wash it into the lake. And remember, Lake Greenwood is a huge source of drinking water to many Greenwood residents. What you do at the lake, affects what you and your family is drinking.
