Similar to the monthly Main Street Shop and Dine events that occur on the first Friday of each month, next Friday, September 30 from 4-8 p.m. head downtown for “Fifth Friday” featuring Noel Lindler and the Bank Walkers on stage in Memorial Park.
Bridget Carey, tourism and events manager for the City of Newberry said the event was created this month to kick off a fantastic weekend with Newberry’s Oktoberfest event the next day on Saturday, October 1.
Several food trucks will be downtown for patrons to enjoy, Carey said as well as beer sales provided by the Newberry Downtown Development Association (NDDA) and Figaro Market.
Pedestrians are invited to stroll, shop and dine along downtown Newberry’s Main Street for this event. Blocking the road from vehicular traffic allows pedestrians to take advantage of the extended outdoor space in the downtown district. Visitors can enjoy a nice evening stroll through downtown Newberry’s Main Street.
Vehicular traffic will be blocked along Main Street beginning at 3 p.m. Following the event, the road closure will extend up Main Street for the Oktoberfest event venue space. All cars parked along Main Street on Friday, September 30 must be removed by 3 p.m. to ensure pedestrian safety.
With the upcoming holiday season, Carey said this Friday night event marks the completion of the Main Street Shop and Dine events for the remainder of the calendar year.
