Lander University Hosts Annual Moonshine Run

Lander University’s Moonshine Run was held on the evening of Oct. 27. The run is hosted by Campus Recreation and intends to raise awareness surrounding substance abuse and shed light on healthy alternatives.

“We want to raise awareness to the subject while also offering positive influence and alternatives to drugs and alcohol,” said Matthew Gilstrap, executive director of Student Life and Engagement.

Students were welcomed onto the front lawn and enjoyed snacks, Halloween-themed skull painting, cornhole and a variety of other activities. The run began around 7 p.m. and took runners around the campus before finishing at PEES Circle.

“It’s a good excuse to make myself exercise, but it’s also for a great cause,” said Luke Boyce, of Anderson. “This was my first Moonshine Run, but I plan on running again next time.”
